New year, new you: Tales of reinvention and renewal
Team 20s: Camila Salazar is Colombian, American, and a Miami native. In addition to being a member of the Generation Women team, she produces audio. She’s made podcasts for BuzzFeed News, This American Life, WAMU, and NPR, and she’s currently at Macmillan Podcasts.
Team 30s: Jackie Faherty is both a Senior Scientist and a Senior Education Manager in the Department of Astrophysics and the Department of Education at the American Museum of Natural History. She strives to create more opportunities for underrepresented minorities to enter STEM fields through unique outreach endeavors.
Team 40s: Vijai Nathan makes people laugh around the world with her solo shows: Give Them Vagina: Tips from Mom, Dad & COSMO and Good Girls Don’t, But Indian Girls Do. She’s been featured on NPR’s Snap Judgment and Invisibilia, and she was featured at the Montreal International Comedy Festival, Just for Laughs, and the Smirnoff International Comedy Festival.
Team 50s: Michele Carlo is a writer/performer who has appeared on several stages, including Joe’s Pub, RISK!, the MOTH MainStage, on NPR, and the PBS show Stories from the Stage. She is the author of the NYC-set memoir Fish Out of Agua, which is also a radio show/podcast currently airing on Radio Free Brooklyn.
Team 60s: Nelsie Spencer is the author of the novel The Playgroup, and the feature screenplay A Girl's Best Friend. She co-wrote the feature film Valley Inn, which debuted at the Palm Beach International Film Festival. She also wrote, produced, and co-hosted the radio show The Radio Ritas, and hosts the podcast The Naked Novelist.
Team 70s: Martha Reeves is a humorist and the winner of the Jack Kerouac Literary Prize. She has presented original works in New York City, Chicago and Boston. Her first one woman show is titled Chicken Pot Pie and Other Challenges, and she is now working on her next: Confessions of a Bad Mother.
