The time I stepped up
Team 20s: Virginia Zamora left Miami at 18 to pursue her dream of becoming an artist that made a difference. After graduating from the School of Visual Arts, she continues to live in New York as a strong, independent freelancer, pursuing passion projects ranging from erotic feminist work to a children’s book on phone addiction.
Team 30s: Rachel Elizabeth Cargle is an Ohio born writer and lecturer. Her work is rooted in providing intellectual discourse, tools, and resources that explore the intersection of race and womanhood. Along with a monthly column at HarpersBazaar.com, Rachel is a student at Columbia University and a research fellow at the Antiracist Research and Policy Center at American University.
Team 40s: Blair Glaser is a writer, executive leadership coach and organizational development consultant. She co-leads an annual writing workshop for women, Women Writing to Change the World, at the Omega Institute. Her articles on intimacy, leadership and authority have appeared online in The Huffington Post, Elephant Journal, and more.
Team 50s: Nancy Agabian is the author of Princess Freak, a poetry collection, and Me as her again, a memoir. Her novel “The Fear of Large and Small Nations” was recently a finalist for the PEN/Bellwether Prize for Socially-Engaged Fiction.
Team 60s: Marleen Kassel, PhD, is an award-winning, published, forty-year, battle-scarred Asian historian who has been telling stories about her professional experiences for the past five years. She is compiling her stories into an anthology lovingly entitled, Youth in Asia (Euthanasia).
Team 70s: Nancy Schuler spent 30 years being an artist, coach, athlete, and personal trainer. She recently discovered a love for acting and playwriting, and since then Nancy has performed at the New Britain Museum of American Art, Shakesperience Productions, the Mattatuck Museum, the New York Public Library Equity Theater and more.
This month we have a special guest host, Janice Maffei. Maffei is a playwright, storyteller, and entrepreneur who presented at Generation Women’s inaugural show on the topic “The First Time I Said No,” later recognized as a “Best of GW.” Her writing has been published in The Southampton Review, The Paterson Literary Review and HowlRound. Her newest project, Reclaim Plan A™, sparks people to thread their dreams in the day to day. She’s a co-founder of VisionFirst helping teams think forward, create change and get results.
